Mideast entertainment plan

DUBAI —UAE-based Domain Entertainment and US- based Jabal Entertainment have announced a strategic partnership at this year’s Middle East Film and Comic Con that aims to develop transmedia pop-culture projects from creators across the Middle East in a bid to bring new life to the burgeoning medium.

“Our goal has been to help more creators from the region develop stories to share with the entire world as well as enhancing pop-culture visibility in the area and this coming together of like-minded resources meant that our reach just doubled!,” said Arafaat Ali Khan, Managing Partner of Domain Entertainment, on the reason for the cooperation.

“I’ve always loved modern mythology like The Lord of the Rings and the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have been in the pop culture industry for over a decade. The idea is to show that the Middle East has a lot to offer when it comes to contemporary entertainment and can be just as popular, if not more so, as the current roster of great transmedia entertainment IPs,” said creator of Jinnrise and Jabal Entertainment CEO, Sohaib Awan.

The alliance kicks off with the development of a global transmedia sports IP, a quarterly anthology series that will give new talent a platform to be published, along with Arabic language comic book adaptations that the team hopes will herald a new era in storytelling across the Middle East.
