Makita Pink creates awareness on breast cancer

Every year in October, the colour pink is prominently showcased by thousands of organizations everywhere. October has been designated as the Pink Month in a global effort to raise awareness on Breast Cancer.

The Makita Pink is one such unique campaign by Qatar based Industrial Solutions leader Nehmeh dedicated towards raising awareness for Breast Cancer and make a difference towards the disease.

The goal of this year’s campaign was to promote important facts of Breast Cancer which are generally unheeded. For the Makita Pink campaign this year, participants stood a chance to win a unique Makita ‘Pink; Vacuum Cleaner by simply registering online and showing support on the contest and social media pages.

“There’s a common misconception that men don’t get Breast Cancer and alcohol, smoking and obesity play little or no part to increase the chances of developing breast cancer. Our goal was to engage our audience and to inculcate on Breast Cancer Awareness and how education on this disease could help save lives,” said Noel Rodrigues, Deputy Marketing Manager at Nehmeh.

With over thousand entries across all of Nehmeh’s social media platforms, this year’s prize was awarded to Eulalee Argonza. The prize was presented by Mohammed Sherif, Marketing Manager at Nehmeh HQ.

In 2015, Nehmeh along with its partner Makita - a leader in power tools worldwide - introduced a Makita Pink 10.8V Li-ion Cordless Drill Driver for raising awareness. The Makita Pink Breast Cancer Awareness drive has been an annual CSR activity as a part of Nehmeh’s award winning sustainability initiatives.
