Transport Minister calls for daily flights from Sana'a International Airport
SANA'A, Jun. 02 (Saba) - The Minister of Transport, Abdulwahab Yahya Al-Durra, on Thursday called on the United Nations to approve the operation of daily civil commercial flights from Sana'a International Airport without restrictions or conditions.
'It has become important to operate daily flights from Sana'a International Airport in light of the inability of the current flights to meet the needs of patients and travelers,' Al-Durra said in a statement.
This is an inalienable right guaranteed by international laws and humanitarian covenants, foremost of which is the Chicago International Convention, he added.
Al-Durra explained that only one flight was carried out for Cairo-Sana'a line and six flights to Jordan during the past period of the armistice, calling for adopting daily flights starting next Saturday so that patients can travel for treatment after being stranded for more than six years.
He stressed that Sana'a airport provides its services to all Yemenis with complete impartiality and high technical professionalism.
