SANA'A, Feb. 28 (Saba) - Head of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology Raed Jabal confirmed on Sunday that Sana'a International Airport is a civilian airport closed by the US-Saudi aggression coalition, since August 2016.

The airport currently receives international flights and humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen and provides it's civil and air navigation services in accordance with international requirements and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Raed said in a statement to Saba.

'The United Nations and its employees are informed, through their movement back and forth, on a daily basis, on the mechanism of work at the airport in accordance with the required safety standards, in light of the continuous aggression targeting the airport and its facilities,' he said.

He pointed out that the closure of Sanaa International Airport by the aggression caused a humanitarian catastrophe, with the testimony of the United Nations and international organizations.

He added that 'the continuation of the aggression in closing Sanaa International Airport is a war crime and a collective siege of the Yemeni people, which has major health, humanitarian and social consequences.'

Jabal held the aggression coalition fully responsible for the consequences of the closure of the airport and the continued bombing of it directly.
